A few days after the Nigerian Police clashed with Okada riders at Amuwo Odofin, Mile 12 and then Ogba, another unrest has been reported in Ibeju Lekki, a local government area of Lekki, Lagos State.
This is coming as the commercial motorcycle riders and Policemen attached to the Elemoro Division Police Station in Ibeju Lekki clashed on Monday afternoon.Okada riders and Police clash in Lekki
As reported by The PUNCH, the incident occurred when police officers apprehended a motorcyclist who drove against traffic. The motorcyclist was said to have been shot dead, leading to a protest by his colleagues. “Other Okada riders stormed the Elemoro police station and burnt three vehicles and vandalised two patrol vans parked within the premises”, the media reported.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejebi, however, said no police station was not set ablaze. In the statement titled, ‘No Police Station Was Burnt In Lagos As Police Restore Normalcy To Ile Epo, Elemoro-Lagos’, he said, “The Lagos State Police Command has tactically repelled some hoodlums who attempted to set ablaze the Oke Odo Division of the command today 24th May, 2021 and twelve (12) of them were arrested.
