“Thank You Pressy”, NYSC Delegates Pay Buhari Visit For Increased Monthly Allowance

  • President Buhari commends General Yakubu gowon for implementing the NYSC Scheme.
President Buhari has commended General Yakubu Gown for proposing and initiating the National Youth Service Corps NYSC scheme, saying some Lagosians living on the island have never been to Ikeja if not for the scheme.
The President stated this while receiving delegates of NYSC at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday. The corps, who  members were led by Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare and the Director-General of the NYSC Ibrahim Shehu, had gone in appreciation of the increase in the monthly allowance from N19,800 to N33,000."Thank You Pressy", NYSC Delegates Pay Buhari Visit For Increased Monthly Allowance
In the statement released by President Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, the President stated that the scheme had made youths know the country better and understand cultures different from theirs.
People come from far and wide; some from Victoria Island in Lagos have not even been to Ikeja. They now find themselves in Daura and other parts of the country.

Whenever I go to my town, I get in touch with members; some of them from Lagos, some from Port Harcourt. Whenever I meet General Gowon up till today, I thank him for initiating the NYSC. It is a nationalist and patriotic thinking that led to the development of the scheme
