2019 was a great year for black pageants across the world, as all the title-holders of the worlds most recognised and coveted titles are beautiful black women Nigeria’s very own Nyekachi Esther Douglas is one of them. Nyekachi Douglas is the MBGN for 2019 and also the Miss World Africa as she was among the top 5 in the last Miss World contest held in London 2019, where Toni Ann-Singh won.
The 22-year-old was born in Ibaa, Emohua LGA, Rivers State. She attended Charles Dale Memorial International School. Nyekachi Douglas is a Public Health student and Model. The beauty queen glamazon worked in the fashion industry for 3 years before she started training for beauty pageantry, She walked alongside Jamaican born UK based international model, Naomi Campbell and male model du jour, Alton Mason for designers Okunoren during Arise Fashion Week in May. Nyekachi Esther Douglas revealed that idol growing up was the first Miss World to come from Nigeria, Agbani Darego.
She’s currently working on a project in the Makoko slum area of Yaba Lagos, she plans to extend these efforts across other African communities. The last person to achieve Nyekachi’s feat did so 16 years ago. All we can wish Nyekachi is more success to come her way as and all of her dreams do come true as she continues to represent Nigeria.
