Nigerian actor and comedian, Frank Donga has stated that the panacea to curbing the rise of fake news and misinformation does not rest no the threshold of social media control.
He explained that everyone, bother government and the public remain guilty of passing fake news at different points.
He noted that the same social media is used by politicians to solicit for votes, hence they deserve to be held accountable too.

“Fake News is something both the government and citizens are prone to & guilty of. Controlling free speech or ‘regulating’ social media is NOT a solution. If social media is used by politicians to beg for votes, it can be used to hold them accountable. I tweet in peace.”
