Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has again insisted that the herdsmen who go about with guns have no option but engage in self-defence.
Recall that the Governor had on Thursday last week during the Northern Governors Forum meeting said this, blaming the herders clashes on South-East and South-West Governors, and the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom for not being accommodating.
Appearing as a guest on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily today Friday, Bala Mohammed noted that his statement has still not changed, despite many faulted him and queried how legal it is for the herders to carry AK-47s. Read also: Nigerians Responsible For Making Herdsmen Pick Up Weapons – Sheik Gumi
He noted that he is not defending the herders acts but still, they have no option. “I have not changed my opinion on the issue; I was not defending herdsmen – Bala Mohammed, Bauchi Governor on his comment that herders have no option but to carry AK-47 for self-defence because they are being attacked and killed by cattle rustlers”, he said.
