The sequel starts in the lush and royal – but also fictional – country of Zamunda where newly-crowned King Akeem (Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure.

They will traversed the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.

But the reason Akeem heads back to New York is after he learns has a long-lost son in Queens and must go to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.

Many of the original cast favourites from Coming to America will return including King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones) and Queen Lisa (Shari Headley).

New stars joining his already amazing ensemble cast include, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.

Such a list of Hollywood heavyweight will make Coming 2 America one of the most anticipated comedy films of the year.

“Coming to America was a cultural phenomenon that is one of the most loved and celebrated comedies of all time,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios.

“Thanks to Eddie Murphy’s comedic genius along with the brilliant filmmakers, writers and fabulous cast… we know audiences around the world will fall in love with this hilarious, joyful movie that will surely become a timeless favourite.”
