Nollywood Is Nigeria’s No. 1 Rehab, Many Would Have Died – Mary Remmy Njoku

Nigerian actress and co-founder of Iroko TV, Mary Remmy Njoku has also disagreed with the National President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria AGN, Emeka Rollas, who said Nollywood is not a dumping ground for BBNaija evictees.

Actor Bolanle Ninalowo, popularly known as Nino B or Makanaki is one of the firsts to disagree with the actor, saying in an Instagram post he has now taken down that the AGN boss’ statement is wrong. According to her, the Nigerian movie industry is the nation’s number 1 rehabilitation centre and is indeed a dumping ground for everyone the society has rejected. She noted further that the industry, which she classified as a ‘she’, doesn’t care about people’s past nor about what the world think of them but holds them till they find their feet in the society.

“NOLLYWOOD IS NIGERIA’S NO 1 REHABILITATION CENTER. SHE IS INDEED A DUMPING GROUND TO ALL SOCIETY REJECTS. AN EMPLOYER OF THE UNEMPLOYABLE. A SHELTER TO ALL WHO HAVE LOST THEIR WAYS A MOTHER TO THE CONFUSED AND MISUNDERSTOOD. Speaking on how many joined the industry, she said, “majority of us were unemployable in the society when we joined Nollywood. No degree. No certificates. If not for Nollywood so many people would have committed suicide because of stigmatization and discrimination. Nollywood is home to ALL. She is life to anyone who wants to live. Remember that”.
