Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has once again criticized the timing of this year’s world cup, stating that the organisers are only interested in the tournament, and not the players involved in the competition.
Klopp relayed his opinion, during an interview with correspondents in England. He argued that placing the tournament in November will go a long way in destabilizing every football team in the world.
The German tactician further stated that club managers and players will be at loggerheads this time around because footballers are now very scared of injuries. He argued further that football clubs will not get the best out of their players because the players understand that fact that any injury during this period, will automatically rule them out of the world cup.
This is not the first time Klopp will be antagonizing FIFA’s decision. He was also one of the leading voices against the Nations league tournament, stating that the ‘overrated friendly matches’ will affect players’ performance, and some might even get injured along the way.
Some prominent players like Paul Pogba, Ngolo Kante, Ben Chilwell, and others, have already been ruled out of the world cup.
