Nigerians Storm Abuja, Demand Sowore, Others’ Freedom

Nigerians in Abuja have stormed the Magistrate Court in Abuja where Omoyele Sowore’s case is being heard to demand for his release and others’ on bail.
Recall that Sowore, Gudu 5 and some others have been arrested on the 1st of January for inciting violence and breaking COVID-19 curfew rules.
He has since then been in detention and all efforts to get him out on bail proved abortive. His case had also suffered setback as the Prosecution counsel opposed the hearing of the application on the grounds that defendant was served with the application by 10.43 a.m. in court contrary to the order of the court for the service to be effected on him before 4.00 p.m.

As the case was to resume today, Nigerians have stormed the court to demand for his bail. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police reportedly did not bring Sowore and the others to the court over claims that there was no vehicle to convey him to the court. SaharaReporters has also alleged that the Attorney General of the Federation has secretly taken over the court hearing as revenge against the media firm’s for exposing series of the corruption activities by his family.
