The Federal Government on Sunday insisted that the deadlines given for the registration of all Subscriber Identification Modules with valid National Identity Numbers were still in force.
Recall that the Executive Vice-Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Danbatta, and the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Aliyu Aziz, had confirmed the earlier 15 days deadline extension in a statement.
The Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Ikechukwu Adinde, while fielding questions from newsmen, has now stated that nothing has changed about the deadline. “The deadlines are still in force; there is no update for now and just like I told you last week, if there is any change it will be communicated,” he said. The FG has also declared that the NIN was mandatory for diplomats who reside in Nigeria, as well as for all other lawful residents across the country.Photos Credit: Getty
