Nigeria’s Historical Wins Since Independence

Nigeria is the most populated black nation on earth, the most populated country in Africa and one of the largest democracy in the world.

The country is facing one of its most turbulent period. Kidnapping is on the rise, food prices are skyrocketing, the students are at home and the nation is facing what economist call multi-dimensional poverty.

But despite the stormy session, the country recorded some major wins in the last one year.

Music

Nigeria has taken Afro-Beats to every part of the globe. The country experienced a major milestone, when Afro Beat ace, Burna Boy won the World Best Music Category, at the 2021 Grammy Award.

Movies

Nollywood has grown in leaps and bound, since the last independence day. Nigerians are breaking the cinema embargo, as more Nigerians are gradually enjoying the movies at the theatre and consuming Nigerian contents, unlike before. The movie, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, grossed around #468 million, making it the highest grossing movie in the history of the country.

Sports

The Nigeria sporting scene was brought to life, by the exploits of the ”the Amazon”, Tobiloba Amusan, who shattered the world record to become the fastest woman in the 110m hurdles and the present world record holder.
