Nigerians Remember Gbenga Adeboye 17 Years After His Demise

Today 30th April, 2020 marks the 17th year popular comedian, OAP, singer and events host Gbenga Adeboye passed on to great beyond and Nigerians are celebrating the great man of talents.
Gbenga Adeboye was born 30th September 1959 at Ode Omu, Gbongan, Osun State and was said to have personally sent out text messages to his friends in 2003 announcing his death. He also narrated his death tale in one of his albums which sparked controversies.According to him, he died and had an encounter with God but was sent back to the earth by God to complete his unfinished business and to be buried with his Bible and hymn book.Nigerians Remember Gbenga Adeboye 17 Years After His Demise
He then relapsed into coma again while performing on stage and was taken to the Catholic Hospital Oluyoro in Ibadan. When the then governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu became aware of his predicament, he was then moved to St. Nicholas Hospital and diagnosed of renal failure. His condition never improved for the three weeks he spent at that hospital from the time he was taken there until he died on the 30th of April throwing the entire entertainment scene into deep mourning.
Gbenga Adeboye was a chief host of a popular radio program presented in Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation in the early 1980s where he got the household name Funwontan Oduology, and the pioneer founder of FIBAN in Nigeria, Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria. Narrating his life in a song dedicated to Him and titled Omo Majemu, one of his sisters Seun Adeboye revealed how Wednesday was so special in the life of deceased, who was born on Wednesday 30th sept, started his education on Wednesday, started presenting on radio on a Wednesday, had his first trip to America on a Wednesday, released his first album on a Wednesday, made most of his achievements on Wednesdays, died on Wednesday 30th of April and laid to rest on Wednesday 14th May 2003.
