Greenfield University Students May Be Killed Today, Nigerians Worry

Bandits kidnap Greenfield University Students
#GreenfieldUniversityStudents is one of the top trends of the day as Nigerians fear for the safety and bing alive of the remaining students of the Greenfield University, Kaduna who are still in their abductors den.
Bandits had stormed the tertiary institution located at Kasarami village, off Kaduna-Abuja Road in Chikun Local Council on Tuesday 20th April, carting away with some students numbered to be 23. Before the week of abduction ran out, dead bodies of 3 of the students were found in a village close to the University. They had apparently been shot dead. Two more were killed in the subsequent week, confirming the words of the bandits that they would kill their victims in an interval of 3 days.Governor El-rufai of Kaduna State has said his government will never negotiate with terrorists and bandits. He equally promised to root out bandits  from the state, advocating their prompt elimination once they are identified. Reacting to his statement, Sani Idris Jalingo, the head of the banditry gang who launched the Greenfield University attack told the Hausa Service of the Voice of America that his group will kill the remaining 17 students if the stated ransom is not paid. According to the report, the ransom of N100 million and 10 brand new Honda motorcycles are to be paid before today, Tuesday 4th May.

Meanwhile, the parents of the children were said to have contributed a whooping sum of 55million naira and sent to the bandits before the new demand for 100 million naira sufficed. As the deadline day eventually arrived and Nigerians have not heard any information on the strategy by the Government to get the students out, they could not hide their fear.
