Nigerian Transgender Wins Big In Girl’s State Championship In The US

A Nigerian transgender has caused a stir online following her massive wins at the state’s championship last week. Nigerian Andraya Yearwood dominated at the competition, coming first in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Yearwood also competed in the races last year before undergoing hormone treatments but, it is uncertain if she underwent treatments before competing in this year’s competition. Reports now have it that some of the girls’ competitors are upset about Yearwood being allowed to compete on the women’s team. Many of them have now signed a petition calling for the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference to change its rule. Andraya was born to a Nigerian mom identified as Ngozi Nnaji. In February, she and her mom submitted paperwork at the government office for Andraya to legally change her name.  Photo Credit: Getty
