Nigerian Telegraph Apologise To Toke Makinwa Over AMCON Story

Nigerian Telegraph has written an apology letter to media personality, Toke Makinwa over the fake news it published about the repossession of her home in Banana Island by AMCON.

Toke MakinwaAccording to the newspaper, the fake news was peddled by Gistmerchant blog and reposted on a number of other blogs and websites, which in a sense gave it a sense of veracity.

With Toke Makinwa suing the newspaper house for the fake news, it apologized, noting that it would never use its platform to push forth unverifiable information.

“It’s important to emphasize the said news was lifted from other platforms notably the report was credited to “Gistmerchant Blog”, also the report appeared on many social media platforms.
“Nigerian Telegraph will not be a party to promotion of falsehood and tarnishing of image of individuals who rely on it for accurate information.”
