Nigerian post-graduate student Jackson Igwebuike might be sentenced to at least 25 years imprisonment after he was caught attempting to smuggle Metamphetamine into Canberra.
Igwebuike imported the drug worth over N3 billion naira into Australia in gold fish statues in October 2015 but his trial was delayed for two years due to his continuous denial of his crime.
After spending 2 years in jail while on trial, he finally decided to come clean today. He confessed that his role in the crime was more than “just a mere courier”. The 34-year-old Nigerian was arrested on the 17th of October 2015 while standing in a queue at the Jolimont centre for a bus to Sydney. His Court hearing is scheduled to hold on the 25th of October.
