The Zamfara State police command revealed that it has arrested a notorious hoodlum in Bukkuyum local government area of the state.
The state police spokeperson, SP Muhammad Shehu stated this in a press statement in the state capital on Saturday.
Mr. Shehu said the arrest was made on Friday after receiving information from members of the public about the presence of bandits in the area.
He said: “We received distress call from the area that there were bandits in the bush near Gurusu village. The area commander of Anka police area command mobilized and led a team of policemen for bush combing operation in the area which lasted for hours and led to the arrest of the suspect. A locally made gun with two live cartridges and one operational motorcycle were recovered from the suspect.”
The state command refused to reveal the name of the bandit. Zamfara state has been terrorized by bandit gangs on several occasions in 2018. The bandit attacks have claimed hundreds of lives and rendered many others homeless.
