Nigerian Feminist Forum Berates Remi Tinubu For Trying To ‘Protect’ Senator Elisha Abbo

Senator Remi Tinubu and Senator Elisha Abbo

The Nigerian Feminist Forum (NFF) is displeased with the Senator Remi Tinubu for “attempting to protect Senator Elisha Abbo”. This was after a video surfaced of Remi Tinubu and the Senate committee questioning Elisha Abbo and suggesting that they could protect him if he wishes. Reacting to the video, NFF released a statement through it’s National Co-ordinator, Chiwendu Esther stating their displeasure as they chide Remi Tinubu for the video. The forum called for an end to Senate impunity as it went on to state that absolving Senator Abbo would send the wrong message to people. In the statement, NFF said: “We wish to commend the Senate on the ad-hoc panel set up to investigate the assault of a woman by Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo. However, in a now viral video from Abbo’s hearing with this panel, Oluremi Tinubu can be heard saying “do you want us to protect you? Or do you want us to defend you? Or do you want to be on your own? This statement implies that the Senate may be willing to protect and defend a man who was caught on video physically assaulting an innocent woman”.
