Nigerian Engineer Jailed For Rape, Few Months After His Wedding

Nigeria Engineer has been jailed for raping an 18year old student in Aberdeen. The said man had his  luxurious wedding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, December 2017.

According to reports, Kufre Umoh Uwem, as he has been identified as is a 34 years old oil and gas engineer. At the time the incident, Kufre was a sub-sea project engineer, and  he raped the woman in his Waterton Lawn Flat in Stoneywood, Aberdeen.  The woman reported that the Nigerian engineer detained her against her will, removed her cloth and raped her.

It was gathered that he also did something similar in October 18, 2012 and October 30, 2016. He was said to have had the intent to rape another woman in her flat.

The High Court in Glasgow in which Judge Lord Arthurson presided over stated:

“This was a course of violent and predatory sexual offending, notwithstanding the four years between the two offences.”


At the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lord Arthurson told Uwem: “This was a course of violent and predatory sexual offending, notwithstanding the four years between the two offences.” .
It was stated during the court hearing that Uwem’s first victim was a first-year student, and they both met by chance. He invited her over to his place, then raped her.
During a victim impact statement, the raped girl told the court that the rape had “a monumental impact on her life”.
“The consequences are truly catastrophic for you.” – Lord Arthurson to Nigerian engineer, Uwem who  has now been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
