To abort is labeled a crime and seen as murder in Nigeria. Even though abortion is rarely spoken about in Nigeria, there are a number of ladies who still indulge in the act.
There are some Nigerian celebrities who have nursed the thought of ending the life of their unborn child, but later opted out and are filled with thanks today. So here are some Nollywood actresses who once thought of aborting their children;
Toyin Alasua
The Yoruba actress whose act on the big screen is forever commendable got pregnant when she was 17 years. According to her, when the pregnancy was 5 months old, she began to nurse the thought of having an abortion, but unfortunately for her, all efforts proved abortive. Today, the child has grown up to become a man and she is glad she didn’t.
Toyin Lawani
Controversial fashion designer and stylist who never fails to drop jaws when she steps out make the list of Nigerian celebrities who almost aborted their child. Back in 2015, the Real Housewives of Lagos star revealed that she was pregnant with a baby boy. Toyin Lawani indicated that she almost aborted the child simply because she was older than the father of her child, and she was also scared of public opinion. Looking back, Toyin stated that she is glad she didn’t because her son is a blessing to her today.
Uche Ogbodo
Another controversial actress on the list is Uche Ogbodo. The actress once revealed that at some point, she was advised to abort her baby but she went ahead to negate that advice and retained the baby. She made this revelation in the year 2018 at her daughter’s birthday party.
Adaeze Yobo
Adaeze Yobo, the most beautiful lady in Nigeria in 2008 is the wife of former Super Eagles player, Joseph Yobo. She disclosed she almost aborted her baby simply because scans from two different hospitals showed that it was fibroid and not a baby. Adaeze made this known to the world back in 2018 when her child clocked a year old.
Omawumi
The Bottom Belle singer once stated that she sees her daughter, Kamilah as a deep reflection of herself. She almost nursed the thought of aborting herself when she was pregnant but today she is glad that she never did.
Regina Chukwu
The Nollywood actress almost aborted Maduabuchi Richard Nwafor her son, due to abject poverty. Regina stated that her hubby was sick when she was carrying Richard’s pregnancy, and things were so bad that there was no food to eat. Today her son is all grown up and she is definitely happy.
