Nigerian Bar Association Vow To Continue Protest Over Land Use Charge

The Ikeja chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has decided to continue its protest against the sudden increase in the Land Use Charge introduced few weeks ago by the Akinwunmi Ambode led Lagos State government.
The decision to continue the protest is coming shortly after agents of the Department of State Security(DSS) allegedly paid an expected visit to the branch chairman, Mr Adesina Ogunlana, over the on-going protest.
The branch rejected the 50% reduction by the state government, and vowed to embark on more protests till the state government return the Land Use Charge to its initial state.
Confirming the DSS visit to the Vanguard, Ogunlana said the agents who wore plain clothes, claimed that they were on a peaceful mission to observe the meeting. In a recorded conversation between Mr Adesina Ogunlana and the leader of the DSS team, Ogunlana was heard asking the leader what her mission was. The leader replied saying: “Yes sir, we understand you want to hold a meeting today on this land use charge matter. We want to know whether the meeting will hold and what you want to say”. The meeting eventually held despite the presence of the DSS agents.
