Nigerian Army Undergoes Massive Shakeup With Redeployment Of Top Officials

The Nigerian Army in what appears to be a major shakeup has redeployed 52 general and 597 other officers. No reasons were stated for the new development which involved cancellations, new postings and amendments of previous postings approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Takur Buratai on July 18.The statement was announced in a memo with reference number MS/G1/3OO/2O7 and signed by I.O. Rabiu, a major general and Military Secretary, military sources said. It has been noted that redeployment has become a frequent feature in the Nigerian Army since Mr. Buratai assumed office two years ago since a total of 227 officers were affected in a similar exercise last December. However, the other shake-up was not as sweeping as this exercise.Photo Credit: Getty
