The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed the reception of £4.2million, approximately 2,429,260,599.78 from the United Kingdom UK as part of the loot associated to former Delta State Governor, James Ibori.
Recall that the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms Catriona Laing, had disclosed that the United Kingdom had, in March, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Nigerian government in Abuja, noting that this was just the first tranche of such funds to be returned back to the country. Catriona Laing also added that what was being returned to the Nigerian government was the retrieved money from friends and family members of James Ibori.
In a tweet via the official Twitter handle of the Nigerian Presidency, the FG affirmed that the UK has received the money since as of 10th of May, and has been credited into the designated FGN account with naira equivalent value.
