Nicolai Muller Suffers Injury After Freak Accident While Celebrating Goal

In a celebratory dance gone wrong, Hamburg winger, Nicolai Muller has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament after a freak accident during the club’s match against Augsburg. During their Bundesliga clash on Saturday afternoon, 29-year-old Nicolai reeled away in celebration after scoring a goal before spinning around twice and launching himself towards the corner flag with a ballerina-style pirouette. Unfortunately, he collided with the corner flag on landing, rupturing knee ligaments in the process. Hamburg director, Jens Todt said, “The diagnosis is a huge shock for us, a big blow for the start of the season and of course extremely bitter for Nicolai. We wish him a good recovery and will help him with that as well as we can.” Nicolai faces a seven-month time-out while working on recovering.
