Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Appointed Into South Africa Economic Advisory Council

The Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed by the South African president Cyril Ramaphosa on his presidential Economic Advisory Council. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa

The council which will be chaired by the President Cyril Ramaphosa, along with other members of the council would be expected to ensure that there are “greater coherence and consistency in the implementation of the economic policy and to ensure that government and the society, in general, is better equipped to respond to changing economic dynamics and circumstances of the world”.

The former vice-president of the World Bank took to her twitter handle to share the photos from her meeting with the president and South African Economic Advisory Council, and she captioned it;

“With President Ramaphosa, members of cabinet, and members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council in Pretoria discussing sources of growth for the South African economy and win-win economic interactions with the continent.”

The council held its second meeting on Friday in Tshwane. South Africa’s economy is currently in a recession; its second in two years.
