Newspaper vendors in Abuja have taken to streets to protest the killing of one of their colleagues, Ifeanyi Okereke Elechi, who was killed by a security aide to the House of Representatives Speaker, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila.
Confirming the incident in a statement released in the early hours of Friday, Femi Gbajabiamila noted that deceased was hit by a stray bullet on Thursday evening, which was only intended to disperse a crowd while he was exchanging pleasantries with the newspaper vendors on his was out of the National Assembly.Taking to the streets, the vendors gathered with placards, asking for justice for their colleague. Some of the inscriptions on their placards are, “Elechi’s death must not be in vain”, “Femi Gbaja’s aide killed Elechi”, and “Say No To Extra-judicial Killings”.
