UN Backs Nigeria’s Ebola Response Amid Global Concerns
The United Nations has expressed confidence in Nigeria's ability to contain its newly confirmed Ebola case, as health authorities intensify efforts to prevent further spread.

According to The Will Nigeria, The United Nations has affirmed Nigeria’s capability to manage its newly confirmed Ebola Bundibugyo case, offering assistance as health officials ramp up contact tracing and monitoring to stop the virus from spreading further.
The woman, who had recently visited Uganda, began showing symptoms on October 7 and received a positive test result on October 20 after seeking treatment in Abuja. Nigerian officials have pinpointed at least 44 individuals for observation and examination to stop the possibility of additional infections and broader transmission.
The UN has committed to supporting Nigeria and is calling on nations to collaborate closely with WHO and follow international health guidelines to stop the virus from spreading across borders. Nigeria has become the fifth country to report a case in the current wave of infections, raising concerns over the international spread of the outbreak.
Stéphane Dujarric, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson, highlighted Nigeria’s quick reaction and thorough contact-tracing measures, which have shown the country’s health system is prepared to handle the imported case. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation and adherence to global health protocols to prevent further spread.
Dujarric acknowledged concerns over the detection of the virus in another country, stressing the need for effective containment and collaboration among countries and international health authorities. He reiterated the importance of working with WHO to address the outbreak and prevent its persistence into another year.
