According to Naija News, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru declared that Northerners are with the ruling party ahead of the 2027 election, emphasizing the region’s political and public support for the APC. This claim was made during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Basiru pointed to the backing of influential political personalities, such as former Niger State governor Babangida Aliyu, and the creation of a campaign hub named Arewa for Asiwaju as indicators of widespread Northern support. He also mentioned the gathering of leading lights in politics, economy, and industry to donate the campaign office.

Basiru expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects in the North, stating that the strength of the APC lies in the Northern part of the country. He emphasized that both the region’s political elite and ordinary citizens are supporting the APC, with the masses of Northern Nigeria being with the party.

The APC chieftain criticized opposition parties for their response to electoral defeats, urging them to accept losses as part of the democratic process. Basiru noted that the ruling party had experienced losses in court cases and political contests but had moved on, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s emphasis on accepting both victory.

Basiru called on opposition groups to embrace electoral setbacks, stating that the APC had previously accepted judicial and political losses and continued moving forward. This statement reflects the APC’s strategy to consolidate support in the North ahead of the 2027 election.
