Update: Court Declines Bail For Sex-For-Marks Lecturer

Professor Richard Iyiola Akindele, a former lecturer with Obafemi Awolowo University who was sacked because he was allegedly caught demanding sex from marks from a female student has been remanded in prison. The lecturer who plead not guilty has been kept in prison till December 17, 2018. Francis Omotoso, the lawyer of the defendant, filed an application for his bail, the application which was eventually opposed by Kehinde Ayantoye, a senior legal officer with the Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) who laid a counter claim. According to Justice Maureen Onyetenu the allegations contained in the counter affidavit were weighty and directed the prosecution to produce evidence to back his claim. Photo Credit: Getty
