Surulere LG Chairman In Critical Condition After Stroke Diagnosis

Chairman of Surulere Local Government Tajudeen Ajide is currently battling for his life at a medical facility in Europe. Reports suggest the former footballer, who just got re-elected for a second term, was flown abroad few days after he was sworn-in by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on July 25.While his colleagues resumed office, Ajide was said have collapsed and was not seen in public for days after the swearing-in. It is uncertain the present status of the chairman. Ajide had been sick even before the election. He was not physically present during all the rallies in the run up to polls on July 22. He only came into the country three days to the July 22 election to participate in the final rally.Ajide, who managed to attend the swearing-in ceremony, however, absent at the election to appoint executive members of the Conference of 57, the umbrella body of all the council members. Except for his sickness, Ajide would have been elected as one of the principal officers of the association being a second term chairman.Photo Credit: Getty
