Over 100 Terrorists, Family Members Surrender In Borno – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has disclosed that no fewer than 104 fighters of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), have surrendered to Nigerian troops in Borno State.

This was confirmed in a statement made available earlier today by the Army via a post on the verified Facebook page of the Nigerian Army Headquarters.

According to the post, those who surrendered to the 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa include 22 males, 27 females and 55 children.
The post reads, “ISWAP and their families numbering 104 comprising 22 males, 27 females and 55 children surrendered to troops of 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa, Borno State on Saturday 5 February 2022.”
Recall that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bombardments had eliminated four top commanders. Amir Abdulrahman of Abbaganaram; Imam Tujja, Imam of Bukar Mairam; Malam Ibrahim, Amir of Jubularam, and Bakura Imar died during the attack.
“We are aware of movements of their women and children towards Buningil, Bakassi, Doron Liman, and Daban Alfa”, the officer said.
In some cases, relocating insurgents’ families members surrender to troops when tired or out of food and water.
International Humanitarian Law (IHL) protects women, children and the displaced during battles, giving the need for them to be protected.

The Northeastern part of the country had been ravaged with series of of terrorist attacks, coupled with incessant kidnappings along major roads. The Nigeria Army had however, reiterate its commitment end to the insecurity in Nigeria.
