Weddings: These 5 Things Must Never Happen At A Nigerian Wedding

Weddings are special days that need to be carefully planned. Nigerian weddings are even more special, with a lot of customised events.

At a typical Nigerian wedding, there a lot of expectations that would be demanded, be it consciously or unconsciously. The good news is that you get to control what happens at your wedding, especially when first hand knowledge has been acquired. These are top 5 thing that you should try to eliminate from your wedding, if it would tae place in Nigeria.
1. Scarcity of food: If you know you cant handle the crowd of the number of people in your life, then it would be better to stick to a strictly by invitation kind of party. The last thing a Nigerian wedding guest wants to here is “there is no more food”.
2. Too Much alcohol: Weddings done inside a hall can still escape the consequence of this very move at a wedding. However, of you are planning on celebrating your special day in an open field, then its better to avoid excess alcohol as this would attract the attention of the “real wedding guests”.
3. Hoarding Souvenirs: These best way to successfully avoid this is by going for affordable souviners that can go round, especially when the desired ones are beyond the budget. This particular act can cause long lasting enmity, which is not good for the marriage.
4. Late night parties: If you don’t have plans for heavy security, then its best to avoid this. Men of the night wait for this type of arrangement and most times carry out their evil acts on wedding guests and even sometimes the couple themselves. If you would love to do this, then employ the services of heavy security details.
5. Spraying cash: This would only attract the attention of those who aren’t even on your acquaintance list. The best way ids for the money to be packaged in an envelope and given to the couple as a gift. When money is being sprayed sometimes, it causes issues between the ‘picker’ and the live band members(if they are available).Photo Credit: Getty
