Newlywed Couple Die In Helicopter Crash Just Hours After Tying The Knot

Two newlyweds have died in a helicopter crash just hours after tying the knot at their ranch in Texas.Family members told local media that Will Byler and Bailee Ackerman, both 23, died when the chopper they boarded to depart their wedding reception went down shortly after take-off. The couple – who met during their time as seniors at Sam Houston State University – got married in Uvalde, about 80 miles west of San Antonio, on Saturday night. Mr Byler’s grandfather, William Byler, told Houston TV station KTRK that both had died as a result of the accident, with friends and family having cheered them on as they took off from the ranch. Their deaths were also confirmed by Sam Houston student newspaper The Houstonian.Mr Byler was an agriculture engineering senior and his wife was an agricultural communication senior, the paper said. The pilot, named as Vietnam veteran Gerald Green Lawrence, was also killed. The couple launched a website to mark their wedding, which now features a statement from hosting provider The Knot.“Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with this family at their great loss,” it reads. “We know both families appreciate all your love, support and kindness during this time.” Engagement photos posted on the website show Mr Byler in his cowboy hat embracing Ms Ackerman. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, but the cause is not yet known.Photo Credit: Getty
