Mexican Boxer, Canelo Alvarez Has Been Suspended For Six-Months For Failing A Drug Test

Popular Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez has been given a six-month suspension for failing a drug test. Canelo tested positive for banned substance Clenbuterol.
The swift boxer tested positive twice for the performance-enhancing drug earlier in the year and was given his punishment at a hearing in Nevada on Wednesday. The Nevada Athletic Commission reduced Alvarez’s one-year ban to six months after agreeing a settlement with the former two-division world champion.
Boxing chairman, Anthony Marnell III and commissioners Sandra D. Morgan, Staci Alonso, Dr. Robert McBeath and Christopher Ault voted unanimously to hand down the sentence after reviewing the evidence. Alvarez was not in attendance, but will be eligible to return to boxing from August 17. The suspension back-dates from his first failed drug test which was on February 17.
