Just In: June 12 Is Now Democracy Day

According to reports, the House of Representatives has approved June 12 as the new democracy day, the approval was based on the adoption of a report on a bill seeking to amend the Public Holidays Act 2004. According to reports from the plenary, the lawmakers amended the clauses in the Act, one of clauses state that May 29 be deleted as democracy day and be replaced by June 12.  This new development comes months after President Buhari declared June 12 as the new democracy day in honour of the late MKO Abiola. Photo Credit: Getty
