Jose Mourinho Could Be Sacked On Saturday If United Lose Against Newcastle

Jose Mourinho’s time as Manchester United manager is almost up after losing the faith of senior boardroom figures. He could even be sacked by next week if United lose Saturday’s home Premier League clash with struggling Newcastle. All that may save him is the lack of a viable alternative with ex-Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane understood to be distancing himself from the job. The board were desperate to back Mourinho after what they saw as two good seasons under one of the most successful managers in the game.He won the League Cup and Europa League in his first season and finished second in the Premier League last season and reached the FA Cup Final. But the dramatic slide the side has gone into since the start of this season has startled everyone at the club. United have had their worst start to a campaign since 1989, been knocked out the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby County and could not beat mid-table La Liga side Valencia at home in the Champions League on Tuesday. The 3-1 defeat at West Ham last Saturday was the final straw for some. The off-field problems between Mourinho and the players is also seen to be harming the club’s image.Photo Credit: Getty
