2 Months After Relocating To Canada, 6 Year-Old Nigerian Boy Dies In Swimming Pool

A 6-year-old Nigerian boy has drowned in a pool in Canada, barely 2 months after relocation from Nigeria.

Bukunmi Babayemi, the first of three children, living with their mother in Quebec, has lost his life in what can be termed a sad event. On monday, the mother in company of her children were said to have been at the pool in order to beat the heat. They had only just moved to the apartment about two days before the incident occurred. The major reason for the tragic incident was the fact that there was a crowd at the pool where he was reported to have drowned.Nigerian boy 2
The mother explained that she had told him to stay close by immediately they got to the pool area. However, in about a split second, the boy was said to have slipped and fallen into the pool, while she tried to attend to his siblings both 3 years and 10 months old respectively. He was only noticed few seconds later at the bottom of the pool. Immediately he was brought out, attempts were made to rescue him by pumping his chest while he was still breathing, however he gave up the ghost few seconds later. The mother was also rushed to the hospital as she suffered a shock attack. Speaking on the event; Raynald Hawkins of the Quebec Lifesaving Society mentioned: “A drowning situation for kids is only 15 to 20 seconds. It’s very silent” Nigerian boy 1Photo Credit: Getty
