Banky W says the new generation is more interested in talking about things rather than to act. The singer also charged business owners to be concerned enough about the state of the country and allow workers to perform their civic duties.
“I don’t think young Nigerians are doing enough to register, vote, select, protect. It’s unfortunate because our generation, we seem to be more interested in talking about things than we are in doing something about it,” said Banky W.
“I meet with young people all the time. We have all kinds of meetings and I have started doing a survey where everywhere that I go, I ask how many people here actually have their voters’ cards and most times it’s less than 10 percent of the people in the room. Which tells me that we’ll sit down and we’ll tweet and we’ll post on Instagram and talk on the streets but at the end of the day that’s even like the first step.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it has already begun preparation for the 2019 general elections scheduled for February 16 and March 2, 2019.
