Assistant Director of the National Examination Council, Muhammadu Umar has been apprehended on account of fraudulent practices. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday arraigned the assistant director before Justice M. T. Salihu of the Federal High Court, Maiduguri, on three counts of fraud to the tune of N4m. He was accused of approaching the proprietor of Success Private School with the claim that he had been instructed by his employer to collect NECO Senior School Certificate Examination registration fees paid by students of the school. In a statement by Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of EFCC, he said the proprietor of the school gave Umar the money but the money was not paid to NECO, thus making students not able to sit for the SSCE.Photo Credit: Getty
