Navy Seal Dies Delivering Supplies To The Young Thai Soccer Players Trapped In A Cave

A Thai navy diver who was part of the rescue team entrusted with the responsibility of rescuing the 12 Thai soccer players and their football coach who are trapped in a flooded cave, has died from a lack of oxygen. The seal, Samarn Kunan, volunteered to be part of the team but died during an overnight mission which saw him placing oxygen canisters. Arpakorn Yookongkaew, Thai SEAL commander said while underwater, the rescuer passed out and efforts to resuscitate the 38-year-old failed.Samarn’s body has arrived Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok and will be flown to his hometown in Roi Et for a royally-sponsored funeral.
