Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday has declared the old 500 and 1000 naira notes no longer legal tender. This decision led to massive protest in different parts of the country as people with the old naira notes are left stranded.
Addressing the situation, Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun had assured Ogun residents that both the old and new naira notes will remain legal tender. He went a step further by threatening to persecute any business rejecting the old notes.
This has done little to solve the crisis engulfing not only Ogun state but the whole country at large. With people resorting to violence to expressed their grievances, the question on everyone’s lips is what will become of the Presidential election which is only few days away.
