Music Review: Blaqbonez’s ‘Young Preacher’ Is An Impressive Rap Album

Nigerian singer Blaqbonez has been a buzz as his sophomore album titled Young Preacher tops charts and is taking rap to the next level.blaqbonez

One thing fans can’t enough of is how creative this young rapper is because his lyrics are off the hook. The 13-track album has features from Lojay, Amaarae, BLXCKIE, SUPERBOY Cheque, Tekno, Takura, Bien (Sauti Sol). So lets get into the KOKO of the matter. The song that starts this musical journey is Young Preacher and here, Blaqbonez gives a detailed insight into his life struggles. He speaks on where he is coming from and where is now, as he reveals his life’s adventures in between. BlaqbonezHot Boy has an amazing instrumentation that will get you singing along and moving your head. On this track, he makes it known what he would do to any lady that comes close to him in the bedroom.

The track with the first feature is Whistle with Lojay and Amaarae and they are a perfect trio. One thing that resonates on each track is Blaqbonez’s consistent use of sexual words and descriptions to pass across his message. Also his lyrical delivery is worth commending, this is one area where he makes the rap genre beautiful. Fashionnova has the same sexual intent as he eulogies his love interest and what he intents doing once again in the bedroom.

blaqbonezThe tracks that has gotten fans screaming is Back in Uni featuring JAE5 and Fake Nikes featuring Cheque and BLXCKIE and both songs are worth the hype because WHATTT!!! Loyalty is pure bliss; here he reveals the fact that he can’t be loyal to one woman because he will always cheat. This track has a very unique sound and his consistent lyrical balance is worth commending. She Like Igbo gives us that highlife feel and it is amazing. ESS Mama featuring Tekno, Mazoe featuring Takura and Bien, Star Life, Back on BS and I’d Be Waiting all embody Blaqbonez’s underlining message that this entire body of work is an insight into his world as a young preacher.
Final Thoughts
Blaqbonez’s Young Preacher is an amazing rap album that sheds a positive light on the growth of the Nigerian rap industry. This body of work gets a 7/10. Listen to the album here;
