A 16-year old housewife was yesterday, remanded by a  Kano Chief Magistrates’ for allegedly poisoning her husband Auwalu Isa to death. The said teenager was remanded in a children’s remand home.  The defendant, who resided at Shittar village, Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State, is now being charged with culpable homicide. The case was adjourned till June 7th by the Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Fatima Adamu. Prosecuting officer Aluta Mijinyawa, told the court that a man identified as Ibrahim Yahaya who lived at the same address reported the matter at Danbatta Police Division on April 25. Aluta added that on April 22, at about 7 p.m., the accused made her husband’s food but added rat poison in it. “After her husband ate the food, he died instantly as a result of food poising,’’ he said.  The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her.  Photo Credit: Getty
