Mo Salah To Miss Three Liverpool Matches After Testing Positive For Coronavirus Again

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is out of the Reds’ clash against Leicester City this weekend after the latest round of coronavirus tests showed the winger was still positive for Covid-19.

The forward tested positive earlier this week after coming in for criticism for attending his brother’s wedding, where many of the guests were not wearing masks and were dancing in close quarters with one another.

Salah tested positive after he met-up with the Egyptian national team and his results were returned shortly before the side’s AFCON qualifier against Togo.

The winger has been isolating ever since but given it’s uncertain when Salah contracted the virus, he had been hoping that he could return a negative result after around five days in quarantine.

However, the Egyptian FA have confirmed that Salah tested positive on the latest round of tests.

‘Today, Mohamed Salah made a new swab to detect the Covid-19 virus, but its result was positive,’ a statement on the Egyptian FA website said.

That means Salah is out of Saturday’s clash against Leicester City, while he could miss a further two games. Salah’s absence comes at the worst possible time for Liverpool, who are already without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago.
