Two oil storage plants at Libya’s key terminal, Ras Lanuf, have been completely destroyed after an attack by militants.
The Ras Lanuf Transportation Unit of the Harouge Oil Operations company confirmed that the devastating attack led to the loss of 400,000 barrels of oil.
The attack was also confirmed in a statement released by Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC). The oil corporation agency warned that the damage could spread to other depots at Ras Lanuf, which could in turn paralyze the facility completely.
The oil corporation agency have warned the militants that the attacks on the terminals can eventually cause several catastrophic economic and environmental consequences.
