Mike Phelan Reacts To Manchester United Facing Barcelona In Champions League

The Red Devils assistant manager took to Twitter moments after the draw was announced on Friday. Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has called on the Red Devils players to “get down to business” after drawing Barcelona in the Champions League. The Old Trafford club were paired with one of the harder teams who qualified for the quarter-finals and will not be favourites to progress to the semis. Despite this, Phelan is ready for a fight and illustrated his thoughts by uploading an image of Paul Scholes scoring a screamer against Barcelona back in 2008 as well as a picture of the 1991 Manchester United team that beat the Catalan giants in the European Cup final. Alongside the pictures the 56-year-old wrote: “So Barcelona it is. Many a happy memory. Let’s get down to business Reds.”Manchester United overcame Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16 despite losing the first leg 2-0 at Old Trafford. Many tipped the Red Devils to crash out in the away leg, but they beat the French champions 3-1 with goals coming from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford. After the match Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “We always believed. The plan wasn’t about having the ball and out playing them, if you give this team too much space and time they can hurt you. You saw a couple of times in the first half when we missed out defensive shape. The plan was to be in the game with five minutes to go and it worked.”Photo Credit: Getty
