Chanel Turns The Temple Of Dendur Into Catwalk For Its Metiers d’Art Show

The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art on Wednesday rolled out the red carpet for Chanel and hosted its first fashion show in three decades. The Chanel show that turned the Temple of Dendur in the Sackler Wing into a catwalk for Karl Lagerfeld’s Metiers d’Art collection. Known to align itself with icons wherever it goes, Chanel’s Head Creative Director Lagerfeld saw it fit to turn New York’s grandest museum into a catwalk with the show advertised all over the city; posters depicting Coco as the Statue of Liberty, sporting a spiked crown with her little tweed suit, flaming torch aloft. The Chanel brand lays claim to a mass culture bandwidth as big as Disney and as bold as Coca-Cola while retaining a high culture price tag.Photo Credit: Getty
