Mel B ‘Pays Former Banny £1.8million In Out Of Court Settlement’ Following Defamation Case

Spice Girl Mel B has reportedly ‘paid former nanny Lorraine Giles £1.8million in out of court settlement’ following defamation suit.

Spice Girl Mel B has agreed to pay her former nanny Lorraine Giles nearly £2million in an out of court settlement, according to media reports. Mel was due to face trial after she was sued for defamation by Lorraine over claims the singer branded her a ‘homewrecker’ and a ‘prostitute’ in court papers filed amid her bitter divorce from Stephen Belafonte recently. Now it’s been claimed the two have reached a settlement which will see Mel pay Lorraine £1.8million, and leave it at that.

It was also alleged Mel, Lorraine and Stephen had threesomes, with the settlement reportedly set to keep any details of Mel’s sex life out of the courts had the dispute gone to trial – which, according reports, could have cost £5million in legal fees if Mel lost. Both Stephen and Lorraine denied Mel’s claims they coerced her into threesomes.

A source said: ‘Mel was just happy to clear this mess up once and for all. Things were said in court papers in the heat of a divorce, which exploded into this lawsuit. But in recent weeks their frost has thawed, with them even meeting in the same room to work out their differences.’

The source added that following the controversy that ensued after Mel claimed she had a fling with Spice Girls bandmate Geri Horner ‘the last thing she wanted was the rest of the band on the stand being probed all about her sex life.’

In October of last year it was said that Los Angeles judge Dalila Lyons advised Mel to try and resolve her issues with her former employee outside of court with the first hearing originally set for February 2019. The former America’s Got Talent judge previously argued in court she had no choice but to name Lorraine in order to get a restraining order against Stephen, however the case was sent to trial by the Court Of Appeal.
