Manchester United host Liverpool on Saturday in a crucial clash for Champions League qualification, with just two points separating Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho’s sides in the Premier League table.
Liverpool, buoyed by their progression to the Champions League quarter finals for the first time in over nine years, travel to Old Trafford in sensational form, having lost just one of their last 20 Premier League games. Manchester United currently sit second in the league, and after snatching three points at the death on Monday night courtesy of a Nemanja Matic screamer at Selhurst Park, Mourinho’s side will be looking to continue their momentum.
After benching Mohammed Salah in their mid-week fixture against Porto, the Egyptian ace can be expected to return to Klopp’s starting line-up, and whilst Liverpool’s Champions League exploits have been impressive in the current season, three points on Saturday would be a crucial component in ensuring they qualify for Europe’s elite competition for the 2018/19 campaign.
The game could see Adam Lallana, fresh off the back of just his third start of the current campaign in mid-week, feature for Klopp’s side, though the options available to the German manager will mean the Englishman is faced with stiff competition for a starting berth.
