Manchester United are leading Chelsea in the race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, reports in Spain claim.
Saul is no longer viewed as an integral part of Diego Simeone’s plans and a move to the Premier League is expected by insiders at the club.
Chelsea are plotting a last-ditch loan move to sign him, having already brought Romelu Lukaku to the club.

But they are behind Manchester United – who boast Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane among their summer signings – in the battle for his signature, according to AS.
Liverpool have previously been linked with landing the Spain international, who has been at Atletico since 2008.
While United remain the favourites to sign him, the report claims Chelsea have made progress in the last 24 hours.
Either way, it’s claimed he is closing in on a move to the Premier League this summer, with an initial loan most likely.

An earlier reports suggested Chelsea were pushing for his signature but it’s thought that they will have to offload a midfielder first.
They are in a similar boat with Jules Kounde, the Sevilla centre-back. Kurt Zouma is likely to leave, with Tottenham and West Ham considered the most likely destinations.
Saul has been capped 19 times by Spain and won La Liga and two Europa Leagues during his stint with Atletico Madrid.
